SheiFunmi Interviews Damola Adelaja

Check out my interview with British actor Damola Adelaja of the Nigerian heritage. Damola played a lead role in the movie “RAG TAG” which made some Africans ponder and ask questions as to why a Nigerian would play a gay character? In this interview the actor address this issue in-depth and more.

When asked about his background, Damola said; “I was born and raised in Lagos Nigeria till aged ten…I knew from way back that I did not feel quite right in the very regimented and prescriptive lifestyle layed out for me back in Nigeria. SheiFunmi Interviews Rotimi

Here is another interview from the Vault, check out my interview with R&B Sensation ‘ROTIMI’

Hello Rotimi, how are you doing?

Whats up bro! im doing well

Congratulations of your new music video, I love it!

Thanks man it was a great experience

Tell us how did journey all start for you as a singer/song writer?

My journey started when I was 6 Years old after my mom had heard me sing in the shower. I started writing and recording songs when I was about 12 years old. But my breaking point was winning at the Apollo theatre when I was 15

Tell us more about yourself

I was born and raised in New Jersey, but Im Nigerian. Im proud to be a part of such a rich culture, and i have been blessed to be a part of 2 different tribes. My mother is Igbo and my Father is Yoruba. My parents have always been supportive of anything I wanted to do. They put me in piano lessons, violin classes,a number of choirs and any type of showcase since I was 8. After high school I moved to Chicago to attend Northwestern University. I graduate in June.

Where does the inspiration for your writing songs come from?

My fans and supporters!! I love knowing that im able to touch so many people by my music..Thats what keeps me going

What record label are you signed to as of now?

I’m unsigned, but I have my own label. FrontROseat Productions, but were looking for major distribution from a major label

Are you dating currently?

HAHA nahh

What projects are you working on presently?

We just started Promotion for my Newest single “Already know” ft Dawn Richard from Danity Kane/ Dirty money. And Just shot my First Official Music Video for my first single “Beautiful Music”

Tell us an Unknown fact about Rotimi?

I watch ESPN ALLLL DAY

Do you think you have more American fans than your fans in African countries?

Because Im based in the states it’s a little easier to touch people out here, but I have been getting a lot of love from my people back home

In the next 5years where do you see yourself? Grammys?

I see myself being a internationally known artist, and a well respected actor. And If im fortunate enough to win a Grammy that would be a plus!

What irritates you about people?

I’m huge on respect and once that’s compromised it gives me a different view on that person

What is the worst compliment you have received?

I Don’t think theres such thing as a bad compliment lol

Do you ever see yourself as infamous and what brings this feeling?

Never. I think once an artist allows himself to feel that way, it’s the start of the downfall in there career.

Advice to youths out there looking up to you

Keep your education as the number one priority because no matter what career choice you choose no one can take that from you . Also Follow your dreams and don’t let anyone tell you that it isn’t possible.. You may hear 100 NO’S but it only takes 1 YES
