It was a horrific tragedy back in 2008 when Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother, and nephew were murdered, and today (April 9) jury selection will begin.
The prosecution and defense will be seeking to pick twelve jurors and six alternates from the 150 people pooled for the William Balfour case.
Given Jennifer Hudson’s involvement in the proceedings, it may be difficult to find unbiased and neutral participants to sit on the jury.
Testimony is scheduled to begin on April 23rd, which Jennifer is expected to be present during the entire trial. She will likely be called as a witness as well.

Halle is all determined to get full custody of her daughter Nahla, and now she has cleaned house in her legal team in order to get the job done.
The stunning actress fired her longtime lawyer Neal Hersh because she doubts his ability to get nasty if he has to in order to win the on going custody battle.
She has hired attorney Stephen Kolodny because of his reputation to do whatever it takes to win in the courtroom.
Now Kolodny has the uphill battle of convincing a judge that Halle should be allowed to move to France with Nahla because of a fear of unsafe conditions and paparazzi in Hollywood.
Apparently that’s where her boyfriend Olivier Martinez wants to live!

Jay-Z’s nightclub 40/40 was shutdown last week, just one day after he hosted a massive re-opening party.
Just 24 hours after the re-opening, the club got shut down on Thursday by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for several violations.
The inspectors found that the club was in breach of 69 rules, including dangerously warm temperatures in a refrigerator, hot food left on a counter and an employee mixing salsa with his bare hands.
A source told the New York Post: “If you have a walk-in place with food like this, you put a hell of a lot of people at risk. A night of dinner and dancing should not include the risk of contracting food-borne illness.“
