Chris Brown Fails Drug Test for Rihanna Case

Chris Brown may have gotten lucky with a bit of a break.

On Monday, Brown was in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom where it was determined by he had tested positive for marijuana on June 18 while in Virginia where he was fulfilling his court-ordered community service, but no action on his probation was taken.

“You are not an average person sitting in a living room,” Judge Patricia Schnegg said. “You are not only in the public eye, but you are on probation.”

In his probation report, Brown says he told his probation officer he has smoked marijuana while in California – where Rihanna’s ex has a medical marijuana prescription – but failed in Virginia, where it’s illegal and has no prescription.

Schnegg said she never ordered Brown to have mandatory drug testing, so she just advised him to obey the laws, but she did order his case be moved to California now.

Another hearing is set for November to look over Brown’s numerous probations records, also ordering Brown to meet with his probation officer within three days to figure out his community service hours.

The Don’t Wake Me Up singer is in a series of probation hearings for his assault case for his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, because of an Aug. 15 report that claimed Brown was short 120 hours to finish his community service. (His attorney Mark Geragos said he had completed 1,400 hours of service.)

As part of his plea agreement, Brown was given five years of probation and required to attend a yearlong domestic violence prevention class, including six months of “community labor.”

Last month, Rihanna gave an emotional candid interview to Oprah Winfrey where she revealed she still loves the Look at Me Now singer and admitted she forgives him for physically assaulting her in 2009.

Before the hearing Monday, Rihanna tweeted, “I’m praying for you and wishing u the best today!”
