According to The Sun, the 200 hopefuls who had made their way to Liverpool after impressing the judges with their auditions, were called to the stage in the Echo Arena last night to be told that some of them would be going home.
Recalling the result of the announcement that some hopefuls would be going home without singing, as “carnage”, a source revealed:
“It was carnage. They were told there would be an important announcement. They went out on stage to face Tulisa, Louis, Gary and Nicole — and then the bombshell. There were looks of shock on people’s faces. Even the judges looked upset.”
Following from recent reports that Simon Cowell wanted the bootcamp to be harder, the source added: “Simon wants a higher calibre this year.”
A spokesperson for the show, added: “Some of the contestants who got a Yes at their first auditions, when seen side by side against the others, were not of a good enough standard.”
